“our roots are in the Resistance”

Olbia. Today at 4pm at the CGIL headquarters in Olbia, the author Sandru Dessì will present his latest book “Su Partigianu”.

During the event, the journalist Antonello Sechi, the CGIL secretary Danilo Deiana and Domenico Piccinnu of Anpi will dialogue with the author.

The novel tells the story of Luca, a self-centered boy who has made cynicism his life principle. Set in Cagliari in 1990, Luca lives an unscrupulous life, using everything around him – family, loves and friends – without any remorse. His only companion is his mother, a suffering woman in precarious health conditions, who raised him with great sacrifice.

“On the eve of April 25th, in the afternoon, at the CDLT Olbia-Tempio, we will try to retrace and keep alive the deepest roots of our democracy, of our Republic. Roots that find their foundation in Resistence, in the same struggles of workers against Nazi-fascist oppression. The world of work contributed to writing this story both in the struggle for liberation from the fascist dictatorship and in the reconstruction of a free and democratic society. It is the struggles of male and female workers that have profoundly marked the content and extraordinary value of our Constitution. Freedom and dignity of work are among its essential features. A world of work, therefore, which has taken the ideals of democracy and freedom into its hands and which, by affirming its rights and demands, has opened spaces for protagonism and participation to the whole of society” these are the words of the CGIL general secretary Gallura, Danilo Deiana.
