Victory, consolidated record and playoffs achieved for the second consecutive year arithmetically. Waterpolo Bari is now a certainty. With the 7-4 victory against Libertas Eur Roma on the sixth return day (15 in total played) of group 3 of the national water polo series B, the team coached by Paolo Baiardini moved four points clear of the second in the standings, which became Villa York, after beating Pescara Nuoto and Water Polo at home, and at the same time the ticket for the promotion play-offs to Serie A. A haul of 36 points and a record which, if defended properly, can guarantee the best position in view of the play-offs for ‘A2.

The match against the Capitoline team wasn’t an easy one for captain Gigi Foglio and his teammates. In fact, the trend of the score saw the red and whites chasing for the first three halves, a deficit that even became two goals at the beginning of the third half (2 to 4), then filled with the change of gear and the goals of Davide Lamacchia and Moretti. The score became 5 to 0 in the last quarter, thanks also to De Santis’ goals and Sifanno’s brace, which helped Waterpolo win the match. Two goals of the day also for De Santis, to which are added those scored, one each, by Da Foglio, Moretti and Lamacchia. Baiardini was satisfied with the character of his team at the end of the match.

“The match didn’t start in the best way – he explained at the end of the match -, we are guilty of this and we will work on it with all the staff. However, it was an absolutely positive day which mathematically sees us in the playoffs with three days to spare and therefore we have reached them for two years below with a very young squad, today we had four 2008s in the water for an average age of 19. Let’s take this from good and the objective will be to be able to do it immediately.”

An objective that the team will have to put into the water to the best of their ability already on Saturday for the top match in Pescara scheduled for 12.45pm, which will be able to say a lot about the fate of the regular season.
