Barbara Mazzali in defense of hunting by exception in Lombardy

Elected in the Region thanks to many hunters who voted for her, Barbara Mazzali (currently Councilor for Tourism in Lombardy), takes a position on new attacks on hunting and to the Region “by the usual pro-animal rights newspapers”.

The subject of the dispute is the request that the Lombardy Region, “within the legality of the framework of Law 157/92”, underlines Mazzali herself, made to Ispra for thewithdrawal in derogation. In fact, articles from various newspapers have been published (first of all Daily fact, who has recently dedicated himself a lot to anti-hunting activism) who fear non-existent violations of laws and directives. Obviously these articles never mention the irrefutable fact that Ispra was recognized as non-compliant by the Council of State on this front, having failed for years to provide the data necessary to activate a possibility dictated by law (i.e. the institute of hunting in derogation). The media coverage of the new regional law on parking permits is also instrumental for Mazzali lively calls. “On this – he writes – it is necessary to underline that the rule has become necessary due to the continuous and repeated complaints against lodge hunters for alleged irregularities on live decoys defined by the AG with important acquittals and various dismissals”.

“The lauded Pettirosso anti-poaching operation – specifies Mazzali – actually tells us that 99.2 Brescian hunters out of 100 respect the rules! Precisely on the outcome of these proceedings, in particular on the disputes relating to live recalls, the excellent work of our hunters’ lawyers must be valorised which, in addition to leading to various acquittals and dismissals, has highlighted the

technical and legal fallacy of the disputes!”.

Finally he observes that “if today there is a deficiency in the protection of the territory and in wildlife management it is certainly not the fault of the Lombardy Region but it was the clumsy reform of the PA by Del Rio which destroyed the fabric of professionalism at the head of the Provinces. On my behalf, as in the past, I will be ready to support the necessary measures for hunting in derogationthe reopening of roccoli and the next hunting calendar”, concludes Mazzali.
