As part of the operations aimed at combating scams targeting the elderly, a particularly widespread practice in the Aprilia area, a man resident in Naples was reported today by the staff of the Aprilia Station Command. This man, already known to the police and with a history of scams, was involved in an attempted fraud using the technique known as the “false grandson call”.

The investigative action was started following the complaint of an elderly woman temporarily residing in Aprilia. The eighty-year-old woman received a landline call from an individual who pretended to be the lady’s nephew. The latter requested a sum of money to unblock a package stuck at the post office. Fortunately, thanks to the timely intervention of the royal grandson and son-in-law, the fraud attempt was foiled.

The advice of the authorities is to remain vigilant and be wary of improvised requests for money, always verify the identity of suspicious interlocutors and immediately inform the police in case of similar situations.

This episode highlights the importance of collaboration between citizens and authorities in identifying and combating the phenomenon of scams, which often affect the most vulnerable sections of society.
