«Today we are here to celebrate the school project dedicated to the Partisans, those wonderful heroes who fought for freedom and justice during the dark period of our history»: this is how the children of the Pantani-Fiorini institute introduced the short film, from accomplished, “The invisible city: Busto Arsizio, a resistant city”.
Twenty-five minutes in which the third, fourth and fifth grade students of the graphic, professional and human sciences courses have reconstructed the partisan history of Busto Arsiziostarting from the key places of fascism including the current headquarters of the city municipality, Palazzo Cicogna and the school where they were located: the headquarters of the artistic high school in Piazza Trento and Trieste.
A historical journey through the streets of Busto Arsizio, from the beginning of the resistance, with images of the partisan registers, passing through the 824 files of Busto Arsizio soldiers deported to concentration camps, up to the photos of the citizens who took to the streets to celebrate the day of liberation.
«I am proud and happy to be here today – the president of the city council spoke Laura Rogora, representing the administration – as the mayor often repeats, we have the duty to convey to young people the passion for freedom and democracy. Thanks to the associations, students and teachers for the project.”
Thanks were also added by Dr. Torretta, president of the Alfredo Di Dio Patriots Divisions Groupingand Dr. Pechini representing Anpi: «We wanted to thank you for the work you have done, that you do and that you will do».
The making of the documentary, which participates in a regional tender, is part of a larger project of the Institute, the digital museum, in which a total of 150 young people participated. For the short film, however, around 40 of them got to work, working together spontaneously outside of school hours.
