The reasons for the NO to the current waste management in the city – The other Molfetta

The City Council dedicated to the New Door to Door Regulation, TARI Regulation and TARI tariff plan was held on Monday 22 April. City Councilor Domenico Gagliardi, expression of Free Molfetta (Public Area – Italian Left) thinking organically about the waste situation in Molfetta, voted against the measures proposed by the Administration.

The reasons for this decision are to be found in the answer to these simple questions: Is the city clean or dirty? Do we pay a little or a lot of waste tax? Does the transfer of over 10 million euros that our pockets pay to ASM lead to a cleaning service worthy of the name?

The dirty city, the high tax (and which will increase significantly very soon), the debt situation of ASM (over 7 million in debts to suppliers as already noted on several occasions during the discussion on the consolidated budget) are the answers that lead us to vote against this administrative management.

Free Molfetta Even though I criticized the administration for waste management, I did not fail to put forward some specific proposals aimed at improving door-to-door waste collection. Below are the most significant:

Capillary and effective communication, including the fact that positioning the tub out of hours is subject to administrative sanctions; collection of organic waste on a daily basis and free supply of UNI EN 13432 certified compostable bags (ref. Art. 182-ter c. 1 Legislative Decree 152/06 and subsequent amendments); street bins shaped in such a way as to hinder the introduction of bags containing domestic waste (we also have bins of the order of 50 cm in diameter around the city, a wedding invitation for transgressors); provision of manned flying disposal stations for the most densely populated central districts and far from the fixed ecological islands, to facilitate the citizens of those areas; rapid regulation of environmental inspection activities and training of inspectors.

While the administration and the majority (less and less so given that the measures were approved only thanks to the decisive vote of the “Molfetta Popolare” group which reconnected with the administration after the dismissal and the controversies with the Mayor in recent months) tell of a city “clean” our Movement will continue to fight to highlight the many critical issues of the waste management system that every day and in all parts of the city (from the center to the outskirts) citizens continue to complain with ever greater disappointment and resignation.
