EMILIA-ROMAGNA: Rain and cold but everything is ready for April 25th

The deadline for the demolition of beach huts in Ravenna has been postponed. There is time until the beginning of December to conclude the operations, but also to discuss a possible compromise to save the historic buildings. In fact, the dispute between the owners and the Municipality has continued for some time, at the beginning of the year the ordinance with which the Ravenna administration had ordered the destruction of the artefacts had arrived. The initial deadline for dismantling the 74 wooden houses still existing on the coast was April 30th. An ordinance, however, suspended on March 15, when the mayor asked the Po Delta Park to express an environmental assessment on the times and methods of carrying out the demolitions, to provide technical requirements to the owners. In the meantime, the dismantling operations have therefore stopped. At the end of March, the Park provided the requirements, and in April the municipal manager who had issued the ordinance consequently notified the Seaside Capannisti Association “that the demolition works can begin from 23 September and finish strictly within 90 following days”, i.e. by 8 December. There are still several months to find a solution to avoid the demolition of the huts that are not located in protected areas. A call for tenders should arrive in the summer to allow the interested associations to obtain management of the huts, allocating them to activities, for example of an educational nature.
