Health, work, employment, development and trade union unity are the hot topics at the center of the live interview on TGR Marche Rai tre with the General Secretary of the CISL Marche, Marco Ferracuti.

CWhat situation have you found, given that you have only been in office for a few months? «There are important challenges that this region must face and overcome. First of all the topic of development. We need to redesign a new development model that makes our businesses more competitive and creates better, more dignified and safer work for our workers, on the one hand. On the other hand there is the issue of health. We are on the eve of the implementation of regional law 19-2022. It is a very important moment because the architecture of healthcare will need to be redesigned. We are very committed to this because we are working to ensure that health services are more responsive to people’s needs, starting with combating waiting lists.”

Did you sign an agreement recently with the Region on this issue?«Yes, a very important agreement on new, innovative, fresh trade union relations. We will present ourselves at these tables with a constructive spirit to give our contribution by making our skills and knowledge available and representing the needs of many citizens who tell us about their needs and their critical issues, their difficulties access to health services.”

The development of the Region also passes through work and therefore employment. The data released recently seem positive, even growth, but in reality this is not the case.«As always we need to delve deeper into the data. On the one hand we are absolutely satisfied to have learned that employment has grown, unemployment has fallen, even halving compared to 2019, but then looking into the data we saw for example that the new contracts signed in 2023 instead show many critical issues, that is, a lot of precariousness, almost 70% of workers were hired with a fixed-term contract, around 44% with a form of extreme precariousness.»

But there are sectors that are more important, such as the craft sector, where the data is positive and what is the situation?«Yes, we are a region that has some peculiarities, some distinctive traits, we are a manufacturing region with a concentration of workers in mature sectors and 36% of our businesses are artisan, the highest percentage in Italy.»

What is the situation among you unions in the Marche region? Are there any meeting points in our region?«Absolutely yes, at a regional level we have good trade union relations because they are centered on mutual recognition and respect. We are obviously three distinct unions, we have a different nature, different approaches, we have experienced many points of convergence, others that distinguish us, but then this is the salt of the democracy of trade union pluralism.»
