Aversa (Caserta) – The decision of the “La Politica che servi” group to leave the center-left table for the next administrative elections, due to the “internal divisions in the Democratic Party on the choice of candidate for mayor, has triggered a back and forth with the between the two political subjects.

The Dem city commissioner, Eugenio Marino, comments: “We read with a bit of surprise the decision of ‘La politica che servi’ to no longer participate in the meetings of the center-left table. Our surprise arises from the fact that until the evening of the day before yesterday we discussed together a summary candidacy among those that came to the table. And all the subjects present proposed one or more names (or none) and were willing to converge on a name external to the individual acronyms. Just on Sunday evening we managed to identify one expression of the whole table. Then on Monday, Pd, M5S, Centro Democratico, Progressisti per Aversa and Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra confirmed their united support for the figure indicated on Sunday evening at the table and confirmed on Monday afternoon in a document signed by all the subjects”.

“This is why they are only waiting – underlines Marino – for the membership of ‘La Politica Che Serve’. If the name that unites all the other centre-left subjects is OK for them too, the table will be able to announce it in a unitary way and signed by all the parties. We therefore make an appeal to ‘La Politica Che Serve’ to remain at the table and give its consent to the identified candidacy”.

The reply from Lpcs arrives shortly: “At the centre-left table, ‘La Politica che Serve’ has always had a constructive and unitary approach. This is why we have taken a clear and rigid position: to break the impasse and speed up the selection process of the centre-left mayoral candidate. The ‘sideways steps’ we have taken are the clearest demonstration of the Lpcs’s desire to pursue a transparent discussion by identifying a serious, credible proposal that can truly compete in the next city elections. As soon as we receive the centre-left’s unitary document we will convene a public meeting for a necessary sharing. We, the leading political force in the city in the last elections, will do our part as always.”
