«We are desperate, we will remain here indefinitely»

COSENZA «We former ministerial interns are protesting within the Prefecture of Cosenza. We have served for years at the peripheral offices of the Ministries of Culture and Justice located in the Calabria region. We followed a long training course aimed at job placement. A possibility that has never actually been granted to most of us, despite commitment and sacrifices. The cause is to be found in the unfair exclusion following the competition for 1956 trainees, held last 26 July 2022″. This is what the ministerial interns who protested this morning in Cosenza highlighted.
«After an interminable period of demonstrations, battles and protests – they underline – organized with the support of the USB union, the approval of amendment 19.13 to the Southern Decree (DL 124/2023) (which took place on 26 October 2023), it had given us back the hope of finally being able to obtain the much desired contractualization, through the completion of a competition procedure by the Ministries of Culture and Justice. Following the approval of the amendment, considered the most difficult step, the road should have been downhill, as the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers, necessary for the continuation of the procedure, should have been nothing more than a mere formality. Actually, we unexpectedly find ourselves, even today, at a standstill and in total uncertainty, since the issuance of the Prime Ministerial Decree has not yet taken place. We have been in permanent garrison in front of the Prefecture of Cosenza, in Piazza necessary for the issuing of the Prime Ministerial Decree. The Prefect received us on Thursday 11 April and made the necessary communications to the bodies in question. To date, after 10 days of surveillance, we have not had any feedback from the Ministries. The data that should be forwarded to the Department of Civil Service are still stuck within the offices and, therefore, the lack of will to continue the procedure is evident. We continue to gamble on the lives of 266 families, without economic support since December 2021. We are continuing to simply ask for the implementation of an already existing law, on which our future depends.”
«We will not give up – continue the interns – and we will continue our battle with all the actions necessary to achieve the objective. We once again ask for the intervention of political forces, in particular Calabrian politicians, so that they can intervene to put an end to this stalemate. For this to happen we decided to enter the Prefecture of Cosenza. Without the answers we deserve we will remain here indefinitely».
