Siena Market, the dates of extraordinary editions and recoveries have been established

The Municipality of Siena, in the council meeting which took place this morning, Tuesday 23 April, decided on the dates for the next extraordinary goods markets in Viale XXV Aprile and the recovery of the festive markets for the 2024-2025 Christmas period.

The market in Viale XXV Aprile in Siena will take place regularly on the public holiday of Wednesday 1st May with the usual opening hours from 7am to 2pm. The first extraordinary edition of 2024 will be on Sunday 5th May with opening hours from 7am to 7pm. Sunday 3rd November instead, the holiday market on the following Wednesday 25 December will be recovered, from 7am to 2pm. The second extraordinary edition will take place on Sunday 15 December, from 7am to 7pm. Finally, on Sunday 29 December, the holiday market on Wednesday will be recovered 1 January 2025, from 7am to 2pm. Operators in the food and plant-flower sectors will be able to stop selling, with consequent abandonment of the market area, from 2pm, as long as it does not cause inconvenience to other operators and users.

The market commission which was held last February 28th had put forward the request to the Municipality of Siena to be able to carry out the market regularly on Wednesday 1st May with the usual time from 7am to 2pm, to bring the market forward to Sunday 27th October 2024 on Wednesday 1 January 2025 and to bring forward the transfer market on 25 December to Tuesday 24 December.

The Commission had also presented the request for the two extraordinary 2024 editions, the first Sunday 19 May (alternatively Sunday 12 May) and the second Sunday 15 December, both with the extension of the opening hours until 7pm. It was, however, it is necessary to change the proposed dates, due to the occurrence of unavoidable events; furthermore, it was not considered suitable to hold the market on Tuesday 24 December, in order to avoid inconveniences linked to the impossibility of using the increased parking for access to the city. The calendar may be subject to change based on the program of sporting events.
