Pasquale Trizio, one of the authors of the volume, will speak. Afterwards, Vincenzo Colaprice will present his research “The internment of Italian soldiers starting from three Ruvo stories”. Introduced by the Director of the municipal museum system Teresa De Francesco.

The meeting is part of the cycle of cultural events “Waiting for 25 April 2024” organized by the Municipal Administration – Department of Culture in collaboration with the ANPI Section of Ruvo di Puglia on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism.

The book: 1943. The war overwhelms the country, the front is in the South. Fascism collapses, its agony is ferocious. He fights openly for democracy, paying a very high price in Bari. And after 8 September, there is no peace: while the Allies advance, soldiers and people face – in Bari, Bitetto, Barletta, Matera, and beyond – German aggression and massacres. German bombers devastate the port of Bari. War and Liberation compete for the scene, in the dawn of anger and hope from which the new Italy was born..

Pasquale B. Trizio has long been involved in the history of maritime trade and navigation. Among his latest works, The Uhlfelders, a Berlin Jewish family in Bari in the years of persecution and, recently, Bari. The city at war (1940-1945). He is a member of the World Ship Society and AIDMEN.

Pasquale Doria, journalist and writer, lives and works in Matera. In addition to having collaborated in the drafting of several volumes and having written countless prefaces to books, he has published various short stories, photographic research and in-depth studies concerning above all the territorial reality that he has always investigated. In 2012 the Murgia Park Authority awarded him the Environment Award in recognition of his activities to safeguard and enhance the cultural and natural heritage of Matera.

Pasquale Martino is a scholar of Literature and History. He was a classical high school teacher and councilor for public education of the Municipality of Bari. He published translations of Greek and Latin authors, he dealt with the history of the workers’ movement and anti-fascism; he published, among other things, Il partigiano rediscovered (Manni 2018). With Radici Future he published The civil war will not happen (2021) and One hundred years of resistance (2022), and edited for the same Nazism, communism, anti-fascism. Memories and Repressions of Europe (2020) and Rebels for Freedom (2021). He is president of the provincial ANPI of Bari
