The ceremony for the diaconate ordination of Francesco Ingrande of the parish community of the Sacred Heart in Santa Maria di Gesù of Mazara del Vallo took place on Saturday 20 April 2024 at the Basilica Cathedral Church of Mazara del Vallo. The order was conferred by the imposition of hands and the ordination prayer of H.E. Mons. Angelo Giurdanella bishop of Mazara del Vallo with the participation of all the clergy of the Diocese of Mazara del Vallo. Francesco, born in 1990, after a first experience in the Agesci Mazara 4 scout group, began working as an entertainer in tourist villages and later began to frequent the parish of Santa Maria di Gesù, giving his contribution as an entertainer within the groups of children in the catechism and of the ACR Precisely in that period, on Holy Thursday during the function of the Washing of the Feet, he felt the call of the Lord and began his journey of conversion within the Fraternity. He was a friar of Bethlehem who supported him during his journey of faith.
After a brief experience among the renewed Franciscan Minor friars of Corleone he decided to enter the vocational community of the seminary of Mazara del Vallo. He began his vocational journey in the preparatory year 2017 by undertaking priestly studies at the Seminary of Palermo which will lead him first to receive the Lectorate in 2022 and then the Acolyteship in 2023. After completing his studies he returned to the Diocese to begin an intense experience pastoral care by attending training courses on the parish and on the sacrament of the liturgy and in October he joined the parish community of Cristo Re in S.
Martino from Mazara del Vallo gaining experience of service and catechetical courses within the Catholic Action, Scout and post-confirmation youth groups. On Saturday 20 April 2024 with a service that began at 10.30 am Francesco was ordained Deacon of the Church of Mazara, the first step of the Sacrament of Orders. In the evening, welcomed by the parish priest Father Giuseppe Lupo and the entire parish community, Don Francesco participated in his first mass as a deacon in the Sacred Heart Parish in Santa Maria di Gesù in Mazara del Vallo where it all began. <>. <> What can the deacon do?: he can carry out all the tasks of the priest with the exception of the Eucharistic consecration of confession and the absolution of sins.
