Appointment on Sunday 21 April 2024 with the Appia Run, a sporting event consisting of a competitive and a non-competitive race: times, race route and changes to traffic.

Appointment for Sunday 21 April 2024 in Rome, with a new sporting event to be run. It is about theAppia Run, organized to coincide with Christmas in Rome. This is the twenty-fifth edition of the sporting initiative. The event is scheduled to start at 7 am with the traffic closure in Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, starting at 9 am for the non-competitive race and at 9.30 am for the competitive one. The arrival, with the consequent reopening to traffic, is scheduled for around 11.45am.

Not only road closures, but also bus route diversions or route limitations: this is what is expected for the dayas can also be read on the official Roma Mobilità website.

Six thousand registered for the sporting event. “For this edition we will run through history, with increasingly focused attention towards the environment, in the Appia Antica and in the Cappellolla Park”, declared the organizer Roberto De Benedittis. Five types of terrain on which the race is divided, first of all asphalt and cobblestones.

The times of the Appia Run 2024 and the route of the 13 km race

As anticipated, the sports day begins at 7 am, with traffic closures. However, the races start at 9 am. The first to leave are all those who participate in the non-competitive race, half an hour later the competing athletes are scheduled to leave.

There competitive race is divided into a 13 kilometer course. We start from via delle Terme di Caracalla and proceed towards piazzale Numa Pompilio, via di Porta San Sebastiano, the Appia Antica, via di Cecilia Metella, the Appia Pignatelli, via della Caffarilla and again via Appia Antica. The route continues on via di Porta Ardeatina, via Cristoforo Colombo, via Cilicia and viale Marco Polo. Then via Odoardo Beccari, via Guerrieri, viale Giotto, viale Guido Baccelli from which, finally, you find yourself at the starting point in via delle Terme di Caracalla.

The route of the non-competitive 5km race

The non-competitive race, however, involves a shorter route. The starting point is the same, via delle Terme di Caracalla, but then we proceed towards Piazzale Numa Pompilio, via di Porta San Sebastiano, via di Porta Ardeatina, via C. Colombo, via Cilicia, via Marco Polo, via Odoardo Beccari, via C. Colombo, via di Porta Ardeatina, Largo Giovanni Chiarini, via Guerrieri, viale Giotto, viale Guido Baccelli, Largo Victims of Terrorism, Stadium of the Baths of Caracalla.

In addition to these events, also “Il Fulmine dell’Appia”, dedicated to the little ones, inside the Nando Martellini Stadium.
