From the church of San Michele, up to the loggia of Palazzo Guinigi. Then passing through the many places to be redeveloped in the Serchio Valley and Garfagnana. Important funds for the province’s heritage arrive from the Ministry of Culture: almost 4 million euros.

Almost 236 million euros made available overall. The Mic funds, which will cover the period of time from 2024 to 2026, affect key cultural sectors for our territory such as archaeological heritage, fine arts and landscape, museums, archives and libraries. Tuscany appears to be one of the most financed regions with 25 million divided over 138 projects, confirming the great artistic and cultural heritage of our region of which the province of Lucca is also part, with 3,815,000 euros of funding.

This was announced by the secretary of the Chamber of Deputies Riccardo Zucconi and the mayor of Fabbriche di Vergemoli Michele Giannini.

“Many interventions – we read in a note – which confirm the great commitment of the Meloni government on culture: as regards fine arts and landscape, 89,324.95 euros are foreseen for an extremely urgent intervention on Church of S. Giacomo Apostolo in Fabbriche di Vallico; 280 thousand euros for the Parish Church of S. Maria Assunta in Villa Basilica: restoration and enhancement of the medieval sculptural heritage; 385 thousand for the church of San Michele in Foro in Lucca: medieval bells and bell tower; 520 thousand euros for Rocca di Lucchio in Bagni di Lucca: recovery and restoration of a border fortification; 600 thousand euros for the removal and restoration of the frescoes of the rooms of the main floor and loggia of Palazzo Guinigi in Lucca. For the museum sector, 160 thousand euros are foreseen for urgent interventions securing the National Museum of Palazzo Mansi”.

For the archeology sector, 800 thousand euros are expected for a very urgent intervention for the protection of assets of important anthropological and archaeological interest at serious risk of loss on the convent of San Nicolao of Lucca and finally for the Libraries, 830 thousand euros are made available for various maintenance, restoration and plant engineering interventions at the state library of Lucca and 150 thousand euros for the restoration and digitization of books at the state library of Lucca. “A substantial funding – they conclude – which will finally allow us to take concrete action to restore and enhance the cultural heritage of our province, thanks to the Meloni government and the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano who place culture among the priorities of our country”.
