He will participate in the meeting HE Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, Archbishop Emeritus of Perugia-Città della Pieve and former President of the Italian Episcopal Conference who will speak on the topic with his report, after the greetings of the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, HE Monsignor Andrea Bellandi and the Diocesan Presidents of MEIC, FUCI and ACrespectively Rocco Pacileo, Francesco Di Palma and Maria Vittoria Lanzara. At the conclusion of the interventions, a debate on the topic is planned.
The words of Mons. Bellandi
“60 years have passed since the conciliar event and perhaps today we have become more aware of two aspects: the epochal significance, for the Church but not only, of that Council and, on the other hand, of the fact that its contents and its lines of perspective they contain a potential yet to be discovered and fully realized – observed the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, HE Monsignor Andrea Bellandi – PThis is why the title of the report that Cardinal Bassetti, former Archbishop emeritus of Perugia-Città della Pieve and President of the CEI until two years ago, will hold next Monday in the Hall of Coats of Arms of the Archbishopric is very significant: Vatican Council II – The Council of the Future”. As HE Monsignor Bellandi observes, therefore, “the face of Outgoing Church – as Pope Francis calls it – will have to continue to measure itself against what the Second Vatican Council was able to prophetically and courageously indicate”.
