The conference “Agri-food: from quality to sustainability while respecting safety in the workplace”, organized by the general secretariat, was held yesterday in the main hall of the University of Tuscia in the Santa Maria in Gradi complex in Viterbo. Make CISL Viterbo.

Among the institutional authorities who participated in the event, the vice-rector Alvaro Marucci, the vice-president of the Lazio regional council Enrico Panunzi, the councilor of the municipality of Viterbo Elena Angiani and the director of the Dafne department of Unitus Danilo Monarca spoke. And if the trade union and association world was well represented by the competent interventions of the president of Coldiretti Viterbo Maria Beatrice Ranucci and of the director of Confagricoltura and president of Fimavla Ebat Viterbo Daniele Ciorba, as well as by the attentive presence of the president of the CIA Sergio del Gelsomino, of the general secretary of the Uila-Uil Antonio Biagioli and the regional secretary of the Flai Cgil Massimiliano Venanzi, the massive participation of the students of the “F.lli Agosti” agricultural institute of Bagnoregio and of the “F.Orioli” Higher Institute (agricultural address) qualified the morning from the point of view of dissemination not as an end in itself but aimed at the formation of a critical and aware conscience of young people in relation to the agri-food sector.

The desire to create this bridge between the world of work and the world of school was born, in fact, from the main intention of the general secretary of Fai Cisl Viterbo Sara De Luca to stimulate, in young students who have chosen this specific branch of studies, attention and essential sensitivities for an increasingly healthy future of the agri-food sector.

The urgent and current issues at the center of the discussion between representatives of civil society, institutions and agricultural entrepreneurs have aroused great interest. The interventions, in fact, focused on ex post considerations and strategies for the present and future relating both to the quality of local production and to the prevention of incorrect behavior in agriculture, both with regards to worker safety and food safety. of products with regard to consumer health.

The conference speakers then made their personal contribution to the meeting, focusing attention on the various aspects that impact agri-food, especially the local one.

The secretary Sara De Luca underlined the need for integrated system action, insisting on the fact that the network between the various subjects involved in the process must become increasingly solid and broad, configuring itself as a multiplier tool of human and economic value capable to broaden the scope of consumers and product quality.

Vittoria Romeo, director of INPS Viterbo, also explored the theme of the network, with a specific focus on the network of quality agricultural work, established by the body represented and aimed at those companies that stand out for their compliance with labor and social legislation.

Maria Elena Santonato, head of the Inail Rome center-Viterbo prevention process, spoke remotely about the importance of guaranteeing safety and strategies to prevent accidents and deaths at work.

Luca Zoncheddu, director of the Viterbo diocesan Caritas, and the agronomist Francesca Durastanti then spoke, shifting the attention to agri-food products and the cultural and social value of “Il Cibo Giusto”, a project financed by Arsial and built in synergy, among others , also with Fai Cisl.
Doctor Nicola Ferrarini, director of the Prevention Department and coordinator of the Veterinary Health and Food Safety area of ​​the Viterbo Local Health Authority, subsequently seized the opportunity to illustrate both the control and verification processes carried out by the Local Health Authority to ensure that safe foods on our tables, as well as strategies to minimize the risks to human health through a One health approach that places it in a relationship of close interdependence with animal and environmental health.

The full professor of Dafne Massimo Cecchini, for the direct benefit of the students in the room, closed the interventions in the lineup with an overview of the many study course possibilities that the University of Tuscia offers in the agricultural field.

Finally, Dr. Tolli and Dr. Aquila of the F.lli Barili forestry company in Montalto di Castro, Tonino Casciani of Tenute Casciani and the president of the Andrea Vergati Viterbo Zootechnic Cooperative.
