It’s the second of three match points and will be played tomorrow at the Adriatico in Pescara. Even yesterday Ancona trained behind closed doors, everyone was available and ready to play their chances for a starting shirt, but above all for the good of Ancona, that is, for their salvation. The newfound unity of purpose, the renewed team spirit that Ancona, in this troubled season, seems to have recovered with the arrival of Roberto Boscaglia on the red and white bench, are too precious to be lost. This is the reason for long training sessions behind closed doors, precisely to maintain that concentration and spirit which Ancona has often lacked and which now constitute an essential factor to better face the double match against Pescara and Lucchese, starting from tomorrow’s. The match against Pescara will not be a match like any other. It never is, even more so it won’t be this time, because it will be a real survival play-off, with almost 800 fans following. Except that on the other side there will be a team already projected into the playoffs which, for many good reasons, will not give an inch. Ancona’s last success in Pescara dates back to September 2007, in Serie C1, a 1-3 comeback by Caremi, De Sousa and Miglietta in the season that brought Ancona back to Serie B. Even from epic victories like those, tomorrow , Ancona will have to draw inspiration and energy, because Pescara, beyond the possible absences of some of its protagonists, is still Pescara, the second best attack in the championship with a defensive phase reordered and rebalanced by the arrival on the bench of Emmanuel Cascione who took over the team in March, after Bucaro’s spell. Faced with such an opponent, Ancona recovers four players who can be fundamental in the economy of the match against the Adriatic. They are Mondonico, Gatto, Paolucci and Cioffi, who were also joined last week by Pellizzari, who recovered after two months of absence due to injury. Assuming – but it isn’t – that Boscaglia will repeat the form seen on the pitch against Sestri, Barnabà or Clemente should find a place in the back four, two of Mondonico, Pasini and Cella, and Martina or Agyemang. It is more difficult to interpret the midfield, with Gatto, Prezioso and Paolucci who could be the most certain of a starting shirt, together with Cioffi, Saco and Spagnoli in the more advanced department. But Boscaglia surprised everyone last Sunday with a new form, and he could do it again.
