ROVIGO – Alarm yesterday morning, Friday 19 April around 11am, in via Levico, in the city centre, for a particularly heated argument broke out between foreign citizens. According to initial findings, the argument broke out at the origin of the dispute between two women which, however, gradually increased in intensity enough to involve other compatriots until requiring the intervention of the police. They arrived en masse in via Levico together with the Suem since one of the two was in conditions that required medical intervention. In fact, in the narrow street that goes from the gardens of the Towers to the multi-storey car park, two police cars and two Carabinieri gazelles arrived as well as a crew from the Municipality. A massive intervention that inevitably attracted the curious to understand what was happening given the confusion near the bar on the corner of Via Grimani.

THE ALARM

The two women of African origin would have started to rail against each other for reasons yet to be ascertained. The tone would gradually rise as two opposing factions were created until the contenders became five. In the meantime, however, the commotion had suggested calling the police, who had rushed to Via Levico en masse together with the ambulance. After about half an hour the Suem returned to the base without any intervention, while the police, carabinieri and traffic police remained to calm things down and identify the people involved in the fight.

CONTROLS

Twelve people reported for driving while intoxicated, one of which also tested positive for cocaine. It is one of the results of the night of checks that the Carabinieri engaged in on Thursday evening. The entire territory of the province was affected by a coordinated control service organized by the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Rovigo which saw the use of over twenty soldiers. Sixty vehicles and 83 people were subjected to checks, as well as 13 public establishments, in particular bars, and eight subjects subject to various legal obligations (house arrest, residence obligations). A total of 12 people were reported for driving while under the influence of alcohol, one of whom also tested positive for taking cocaine and was therefore reported to the Prefecture. The same report was made against a 23-year-old from Copparo (Ferrara) who, driving his car, was found in possession of approximately one gram of hashish. A 26-year-old resident of Taglio di Po was driving without insurance coverage on his car, which was subjected to administrative seizure, while a 61-year-old from Ceregnano was reported for driving without a license as it had previously been revoked. Finally, a 27-year-old resident of Villadose was reported for the crime of violating the mandatory exit permit. Subjected to checks in the capital together with a group of friends because he was causing a disturbance to public peace, a check revealed that the provision by the Police Commissioner of Rovigo was against him.
