Due to the strong wind, the school awards ceremony for the XXV Aprile in Varese was urgently moved to the Salone Estense

The lively atmosphere of celebration and remembrance that should have permeated the streets of Varese today, Saturday 20 April, on the occasion of the first event linked to the Liberation, was temporarily suspended due to an unexpected warning from the Civil Protection concerning the strong wind. The award ceremony of the schools with the prestigious recognition of the XXV Aprile, initially scheduled elsewhere, was urgently diverted to Estense Halla contingency choice quickly implemented by the Municipality after the request of the Civil Protection.

The Councilor for Educational Services of the Municipality, Rossella Dimaggio, confirmed that the decision to move the event to the Salone Estense was dictated by the lack of adequate safety in view of the expected strong winds, with gusts that could reach 28 knots. “This space, the Salone Estense, is not adequate and therefore it takes a little patience,” Dimaggio said.

Despite the sudden change in program, the enthusiasm and gratitude for the schools’ contribution to the commemoration of the XXV April remain intact. The school awards ceremony will continue to be a moment of recognition and celebration of the historical memory and the values of freedom and democracy that the 25th of April represents for the city of Varese.
