Feuromed: Sangiuliano across the board, from the Mattei Plan to the 800 million for Campania

“Relations are excellent with the mayor of Naples and we are working together on a series of projects, for example the Maschio Angioino. At this moment in Campania there are 800 million in direct investments from the Ministry of Culture, not only the Pnrr funds but also the funds from the complementary national plan, the funds for entertainment, for theatre, for live music. They are very active and very concrete funds that we are trying to spend honestly, efficiently and with strong determination. The numbers prove us right.” Thus the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, who spoke via video connection at the Feuromed underway in Naples. Going into specifics, Sangiuliano explained: “In Capodimonte, at the moment, there is an active loan of 40 million euros for energy efficiency. The old tiles are being replaced with photovoltaic tiles and when the intervention is complete we will have 90% of self-produced energy in Capodimonte. Then there is the Albergo dei Poveri, the largest cultural infrastructure in Europe, where we will host the doubling of the Mann, we will give part of it to Frederick II to create his schools of excellence and another will become a public library. The work has already started, the construction site is already open and we should finish everything by 2026,” he concluded.

On equal terms with Africa

“I’m in Venice for the Biennale and there are many ministers of culture here, about twenty. I especially wanted to meet Africa’s culture ministers because Africa is a continent rich in raw materials, rich in value, young people, there is a large youth population. I met the Nigerian minister, the Benin minister who is present in Venice for the first time, and I explained to them the contents and ideas of the Mattei plan which is a non-predatory vision for the first time, as done by other European powers compared to Africa, but it is the desire to build an equal future, in dialogue with Africa, understanding the potential and putting our great experience together with them also in terms of business and the ability to do business”.
