LATINA – It’s the concern of the consumer associations belonging to the OTUC is great on the new management of Acqualatina. They raised a cry of alarm, a few days after theelection of the new board of directors led by the Brothers of Italy-Lega-civic towards the majority shareholders of Acqualatina, that is the mayors of the thirty-eight municipalities of the territory under its jurisdiction. “Unfortunately, once again the consumer associations – noted the president of the OTUC, Professor Antonio Villano – are forced to report to citizens who are users of the water resource, the complete disinterest and absolute silence on the part of the mayors of the municipalities of the entire province and of Ato 4as well as the inertia towards our concerns, reported several times both to the President of the Province of Latina, Gerardo Stefanelli, and to the manager of the Technical Operational Secretariat (i.e. the body that has the task of supervising the management of the integrated water service) Umberto Bernola”.
No response has been received from the OTUC to date, come on subjects institutionally responsible for supervising the work of the water service manager “with respect to the reports, on several occasions, of behavior undertaken by the manager even in violation of the provisions issued by Arera, i.e. the Guarantor Authority on the matter”. This situation, according to President Villano, “not only does not exempt the municipalities that are part of the Conference of Mayors nor the operational technical secretariat from the responsibilities resulting from what it would appear to be the lack of control over the activities and behaviors of Acqualatina’s private partner, remembering that the 38 Municipalities hold 51% of the capital of Acqualatina, which is nothing other than the money of the citizens of the territory served by the Company. The failure to comply with the rules and, sometimes even compliance with the service charter, for which the manager, from what is known, would apply procedures established by an internal regulation of the Company without even respecting the Arera resolutions and without bringing it to the attention of the public and the Sto of Ato 4”.
THE consumers are unable to “understand the silence of the majority shareholders on the latest events, following an investigation by the Finance Department into alleged irregularities committed by some Acqualatina employees who, it seems, also held positions of responsibility – added Villano – Just as there is no information on what actions the manager of the Technical Secretariat has implemented Operational towards the private partner regarding, among other things, those who, according to information learned from the media, there would have been illicit reductions of sums in favor of some “privileged” users, thus causing the sums deducted to fall on the rest of the users”.
In short, the OTUC is asking for answers and concrete actions from public shareholders regarding the actions of the new manager, and whether the policy they represent intends to protect users who are sometimes forced to pay sums that are not due. Lastly, he urges those responsible to equip the Technical Operational Secretariatto “additional human resources in order to allow said body to carry out its work which would be its own in the broadest sense and in full compliance with sector regulations”.
