“We have been asking for a permanent guard for months”

The Carabinieri had to intervene to restore tranquility among employees and users of the Cup in Via Colombo after an attack by a person probably under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In recent days, in fact, around 3.30 pm and therefore during the closing time of the counters when the offices are not very busy, a person who was altered from a psychophysical point of view entered, shouting incomprehensible phrases against the employee who was present at that moment. The man, in outbursts, he soon went from words to deeds by punching the glass separating the user and the ASL employee and continuing to scream furiously. A scene that understandably triggered panic, so much so that the only citizen present in the waiting room at that moment ran away. A few moments later a boy and a girl entered and almost immediately a fight broke out between the first and the attacker outside the premises. The Cup employees started screaming, triggering the alarm among the few remaining colleagues who called 112. Once on site, the carabinieri managed to calm things down, preventing a more violent fight from resulting from the jostling. The story ended with a lot of fear and an employee at home sick with several days of prognosis established by the doctor. It is not the first time that the headquarters in via Colombo has been the scene of attacks or episodes of degradation. Just a few days ago, employees found a person who had locked himself inside the facility’s bathroom to consume drugs. «Given that via Colombo was chosen as the location for various services – underlines Michele Bertaccini, secretary of Uil Fpl Forlì – for months we as Uil have been asking for a fixed guard to guard the structure all day. It’s clear that something will happen there, it’s gone well up until now.” The union just yesterday wrote to the ASL to renew the request. «Access is free – continues Bertaccini – and we ask for the presence of a guard who covers the entire work shift to protect the safety of workers and also users. Let us remember that the majority of employees here are women. Otherwise, that is an announced workplace accident and no one will be able to say that it wasn’t expected.”
