Bishop Cantoni on pilgrimage to the Sacro Monte of Ossuccio

Today, Saturday 20 April, Bishop Cantoni of Como will be on a pilgrimage with young people to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Soccorso at the Sacro Monte of Ossuccio.

Bishop Cantoni will begin the pilgrimage to Lenno

On Saturday 20 April, at 4.30 pm, from the first chapel in Viale del Santuario, in Lenno (Co), the prayer of the traditional pilgrimage of young people to the Madonna del Soccorso, at the Sacro Monte of Ossuccio, will begin, on the occasion of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. The proposal, to which all children and young people aged 16 and over are invited, will focus on the annual theme of the day, “Creating a home”, taken from a quote from Pope Francis’ document Christus Vivit at no. 217: “Making a home is making a family; it is learning to feel united with others beyond utilitarian or functional constraints, united in such a way as to feel life a little more human. Creating a home means allowing the prophecy to take shape and make our hours and days less inhospitable, less indifferent and anonymous. It’s about creating bonds that are built with simple, everyday gestures that we can all do.”

The program

The program includes praying the Rosary going up to the sanctuary. Following will be the celebration of the liturgy of the Word and guided Eucharistic adoration. The conclusion is scheduled for 7.30 pm. For those who wish it will be possible to share the packed dinner.
«As per tradition – explains Don Michele Pitino, head of the Vocations Center – in the diocese of Como, on the fourth Sunday of Easter (World Day of Prayer for Vocations) the Bishop invites young people to a moment of pilgrimage and prayer together in a place particularly dedicated to this: the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Help. In the frenzy of so many commitments, it’s nice to slow down. Praying for vocations means reflecting on one’s life starting from a Word that challenges us and tells us something personal. We will live this time together, as a diocesan Church, led by our bishop, cardinal Oscar Cantoni. It is an opportunity to welcome because in prayer it is the Lord who, like a friend, wishes to meet us.”
