Still tension in the Democratic Party over appointments in subsidiaries. After the total clash over Tommaso Rotella, candidate for vice-presidency of Hera by PD secretary Federica Venturelli on behalf of Gian Carlo Muzzarelli, the spotlight shifts to the presidency of Seta, the transport company, for whose expiring position the Municipality had called a call for renewal. In recent days the Dems, who were thought to be unitedly aiming for the confirmation of Alberto Cirelli (in the photo) (appreciated by Muzzarelli), instead surprisingly put forward two candidatures: Cirelli’s was signed by the PD secretary Venturelli, while another was was put forward by councilor Vittorio Reggiani and concerns Stefano Ante, commander of the local police of Fidenza, already serving in Modena as commissioner and then commander in the Apennines. Why this double candidacy from the same party?

In this case, yet another internal fracture would concern exclusively the Catholic soul of the party. In general, the excitement that is recorded perhaps more than ever regarding nominations for any position at the moment is palpable: for some it is the appetizer of the furious clash that will explode to join the Mezzetti council in the event of victory.

Meanwhile, the centre-left’s opponents are having fun at target practice. The group leader of the Fratelli d’Italia Elisa Rossini returns to the candidacies for the vice-presidency of Hera which are splitting Mezzetti’s coalition: “The mess we are witnessing demonstrates once again how the Municipality of Modena, in the dual role of owner of the Hera shares and guarantor of the service offered by Hera itself, is neither able to guarantee the detachment necessary to evaluate the quality of the services provided by the multi-utility nor to act promptly in terms of governance”. In fact, the roles of top management in Hera “are interpreted as centers of power detached from their function of guidance for the good of the territory”. The same candidate from the ModenaXModena list, Maria Grazia Modena, points out that “Muzzarelli’s latest idea of proposing Rotella as vice president of Hera is nothing other than the outgoing mayor’s latest attempt to parcel out power among his loyalists from the ‘wide field’ of the left , for the sole purpose of winning the elections. A division of power from which the ‘so-called’ Greens and the Left are no strangers, nor the new traveling companions, the 5 Stars who proposed Silingardi”. The ‘Modena for Modena’ list instead supports “the candidacy of Rossano Ercolini, proposed by an entity above all suspicion such as the WWF of Central Emilia.

This is a candidacy of European caliber which would transform Hera into a leading company in the circular economy and would not be a miserable, cloying division of offices in the closed rooms of power in the town hall.”
