On the occasion of World Asthma Day 2024, the Pediatric Pneumology Center of the ASL Bt will perform eight free pediatric spirometric assessments on Tuesday 7 May, from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm, at the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic located on the 3rd floor of the the “Lorenzo Bonomo” hospital in Andria.

According to the World Health Organization, between 100 and 150 million people are affected by asthma worldwide. Bronchial asthma is one of the most widespread chronic diseases and, in childhood, represents the most relevant chronic disease due to its diffusion, affecting approximately 1 in 10 children in Western countries. In Italy, in fact, the disease has a prevalence of approximately 10% in the pediatric population and 2% of asthmatic children and adolescents suffer from severe asthma, a rare but demanding condition which still represents an important cause of healthcare costs, school absences, hospitalizations, emergency room visits and poor quality of life.
