Saverino PD, meeting in Catania on policies for orphans resulting from femicide

Saturday 20 April, starting at 9.30amin the conference room of the Sicilian Region Palace in Catania, (formerly ESA) in via Beato Bernardo 5.

the event entitled: will be held “Our children, collective responsibility for orphans of femicide”.

The initiative is promoted by the regional deputy of the Democratic Party, Ersilia Saverino, with the patronage of the presidency of the Sicilian regional assembly.

After the greetings of the regional deputy, the institutional intervention of the prefect of Catania is expected, Maria Carmela Librizziand the relationships of: Graziella Priulla (formerly professor of sociology of communication at the University of Catania), Carmen Bosco (psychotherapist, responsible for the “Respiro” project for Thamaia), Monica Malafoglia (legal expert of Save The Children for the “Respiro” project), Gabriella Messina (regional secretary of CGIL Sicily), Giuseppe Vecchio (Authority for Children and Adolescents), Marisa Scavo (magistrate at the district attorney’s office of Catania), Nunzia Albano (regional councilor for family, social policies and work) e Valeria Valente (Senator of the Republic).

“It will be an important moment to take stock of the situation regarding policies in favor of those boys or girls, girls or boys who have been deprived of a family, beyond the fundamental presence of the mother”

explains Ersilia Saverinosignatory of the proposal that added feminicide orphans among the beneficiaries of funds dedicated to gender violence, approved in the last budget law.

Regional deputies, administrators and associations will also take part in the event.
