From flamenco to ancient temples: the weekend in the province of Trapani

In the province of Trapani, next weekend offers a wide variety of cultural and artistic events.

Among these, the Piano Recital at Palazzo D’Alì in Trapani stands out, which offers an eclectic repertoire of compositions from Moszkowski to Liszt, and the free guided tour of Mokarta, an ancient Sican village from the late Bronze Age, unique in the western Mediterranean. Here are the events:

SEGESTA – On Saturday 20 April, the CoopCulture archaeologist will lead a visit to the Doric Temple of Segesta, in the ancient Elymian city of Segesta. During the visit, the construction techniques and architectural elements of the temple will be explored, along with recent discoveries about the cult within it. Visitors will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the history and culture of the Segesta people, before continuing to explore the site independently. Furthermore, on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April CoopCulture is also organizing the “Segesta Experience”, a unique opportunity to explore the Archaeological Park of Segesta during the weekend. The guided tours, scheduled at 11:00, allow participants to discover the key stages of the route, including the Theatre, the Agora, the Temple and the medieval Mosque. Thanks to the internal mobility system, movements are facilitated, allowing a complete and trouble-free visit. Organized in collaboration with CoopCulture, the visit offers an overview of the history and evolution of the ancient Elymian city of Segesta, also providing context on the great historical conflicts. SELINUNTE – Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April, at 11.00 am, you can take part in the “Selinunte Highlights” guided tour. This experience offers an immersion in the history of the archaeological site of Selinunte, with a route that includes the Eastern Hill, the Baglio Florio and the Acropolis. Organized in collaboration with CoopCulture, the visit also makes use of the internal ecological mobility system to facilitate the movement of participants. MAZARA DEL VALLO – Saturday 20 April is Green Energy Day, during which renewable source plants and those that have carried out energy efficiency interventions are open to the public throughout Italy. Legambiente Sicilia organizes visits to Alpiq’s “Rocca Rossa” wind farm in Cammarata and to the ENGIE agrivoltaic plant in Mazara del Vallo. The visit times are at 9.30 in Mazara del Vallo and at 10.00 in Cammarata, with an approximate duration of an hour and a half and an hour respectively. Info and reservations at [email protected]

TRAPANI – Saturday 20 April at 6.30 pm at Palazzo D’Alì – Sala Sodano, appointment for a four-hand piano recital, performed by Annamaria Tedesco and Vita Magaddino. On the program, an eclectic repertoire that ranges from the delicate compositions of Moszkowski and Brahms to the lively music of Rossini and Rubinstein, up to the majestic works of Liszt. SALEMI – Sunday 21 April at 9.30am, meeting at the Centrale bar in Salemi, appointment for the free guided tour of Mokarta, an ancient Sican village from the late Bronze Age, conducted by the archaeologist Antonino Filippi. Located near Salemi, Mokarta offers a mysterious vision of the past, with circular houses and necropolises, evidence of an ancient civilization.
