BRT dispute: Assotir Veneto meets the Prefecture of Verona

The meeting was held this morning with Dr. Daniela Chemi, Vice-Prefect of Verona (replacing the Prefect Dr. Demetrio Martino who was in an emergency meeting), which saw the participation of Assotir, the Veneto Regional Headquarters, represented by the President Corrado Savegnago, by the Secretary Dr. Antonio Colaianni and the labor consultant Dr. Sergio Antonacci.

The meeting had as its object the chronological reconstruction of the events that led to the judicial administration of the BRT and the subsequent choices that led to the current crisis between the company and its hauliers.

We explained that the choices that the new administration has implemented, at the suggestion of the magistrate Dr. Historically, they have been judged arbitrary and unilateral and do nothing but penalize indiscriminately even those who have always operated and continue to do so, respecting the rules and legality.

No response was given to the letters sent by the lawyer. Monica Ortenzi on behalf of over a hundred hauliers, demonstrating the indifference of the BRT towards those (and there are quite a few) who wanted to trust the promises of continuity of work, getting into debt with the purchase of new vehicles, only to then be put out of action with a simple certified e-mail of contractual withdrawal in favor of companies with little transparency and adherence to the compliance rules that the company asks of previous transporters, a true paradox!

We also underlined the disparity in economic and operational treatment between the previous contracts (200/220 euros/day) and the new ones (300/330 euros/day), forcing the old carriers to decide to be absorbed by the successors, alternatively to close the activity, thus generating a significant socio-economic and employment problem also in our region.

To this end, we explained that after taking action, the General Secretary of Assotir, Dr. Claudio Donati received an email from the CEO of BRT, Dr. Stefania Pezzetti, in which she asked him to be available for a remote conference for tomorrow, Friday 19 April; of this meeting the Vice Prefect Dr. Chemi asked to know the topics covered and any proposals received.

Other details discussed during the meeting were the best known ones of the possible infiltration of companies bordering on legality and companies with economic capacity, personnel and means, with anomalous numbers compared to road haulage standards, which are permitted also thanks to the subvection which in Italy is not fought sufficiently by the institutions.

The Vice Prefect took note of the initiatives that we decided to implement (press conference of 23/04 and stoppage of vehicles from 29/04 to 03/05) and after expressing herself for the situation of all these workers, concluded by saying that she would report everything to the Prefect Dr. Martino and who will subsequently provide us with feedback to the best of their ability regarding the ongoing dispute.
