Gela, big national politicians in the city. Sunday evening meeting with Fico at the Lido Sport Center

Second big national politician present in the city for this start of the electoral campaign. After Cateno De Luca it’s the Cinquestelle’s turn. The former president of the Chamber, Roberto Fico, will be in Gela on Sunday evening. The one in the city is one of the six stops of a mini tour that the five-star exponent will hold on the theme of differentiated autonomy. Theme: “the wicked reform that risks splitting Italy”. For two days, between Sunday 21 and Monday 22 April, Fico will travel around the island together with the M5S regional coordinator for Sicily, Nuccio Di Paola, to illustrate the repercussions of the Calderoli bill. «Differentiated autonomy – says Fico – would be an unbearable slap in the face to the South, it would increase the gaps that already exist and would damage the institutional structure of the country. It is a wicked plan that aims to split Italy. In recent months I have been traveling around Italy to talk about the risks of the autonomy desired by Calderoli and it is important to talk about it in Sicily too.”

«Too little is said about this reform which risks having lethal repercussions for Sicily – says Di Paola – and people know very little about it, who must be informed and prepared for a collection of signatures in view of a possible repeal referendum to avoid the disaster”. The tour will start on Sunday in Aci Castello (11.30 am, Piazza Acicastello), then Scoglitti (5 pm, Piazza Castelli) and Gela (7.30 pm, lido Sport Center, Federico II di Svevia seafront). On Monday 22 April, however, appointments in Caltanissetta (10.30, via Piave 10); Palermo (17, conference at the Sicilian Regional Assembly organized by the Library commission of Palazzo dei Normanni); and Paceco (8pm, municipal day centre).
