The municipal anti-violence center of Bitonto-Palo del Colle “I am mine”within the Ex-Change anti-violence program of the Puglia Region co-financed by the Bitonto-Palo del Colle area, presents the visual art exhibition “Fake Love”curated by the aps Urban anesthetic with the scientific supervision of the aps I am Mia ets. Generated by the need to raise awareness among the adolescent public on the complex issues related to gender violence, “Fake Love” is a project that is inaugurated with the Vitale Giordano technical economic institute in Bitonto, which has made itself available as a “pilot” school. This is the first traveling visual art exhibition on the theme of emotional dependence and toxic relationships, which are very widespread even among very young people. Through an interactive artistic journey, accompanied by an anonymous questionnaire (accessible through a QR code placed at the beginning of the exhibition) created to learn more about the experiences of girls and boys, the exhibition invites high school students to reflect on the love and to recognize the warning signs of a toxic relationship.

“Fake Love” is an engaging exploration of the dynamics of emotional relationships, which aims to shine a light on toxic relationships, stimulate awareness and promote a culture of healthy and respectful relationships. During this interactive exhibition, we go through several stages that should promote understanding of the characteristics of toxic relationships and awareness of the warning signs that can reveal them. Through art and interactivity, the exhibition aims to inspire positive changes in relational dynamics, providing the public with the tools necessary to recognise, prevent and deal with harmful situations. Every step in this exhibition is an invitation to empathy, reflection and commitment to building relationships based on mutual respect.

“Fake Love” will be hosted by Vitale Giordano until May 18th and can be enjoyed by the entire student population of the same institute. The exhibition can be requested from any educational institution with a simple email to the address [email protected]. The exhibition needs to be “hosted” for at least a month so that it can be carefully enjoyed by the greatest number of students who attend the institute itself. The data collected in the questionnaires will remain anonymous and will only be used for research on gender violence. Anesthetic Urbano is a social promotion association which, through visual art, orients the public towards socially responsible communication, stimulating social change and connection between different contexts. Visual art exhibitions and site-specific events come to life within the urban fabric to transform into immersive experiences. Other times they can be transformed into pocket-sized and extremely mobile products, within reach of all citizens. Anesthetic Urbano believes in the power of art as a tool to promote dialogue and awareness towards issues such as the recognition of minority rights and sustainability. The exhibitions invite the public to deal with social issues, even complex ones, and to reflect on how violence and discrimination can be combated. The association is mainly active in Puglia where it collaborates with local authorities, schools and associations to create public art projects and educational workshops. The goal is to create a more aware, sensitive and active community.
