Milan, clash in Forza Italia: De Chirico ousted by Bernardo at Palazzo Marino. Gallera and his friends are ready to say goodbye

Feud in Forza Italia in Milan where on Friday a coup took place the likes of which hadn’t been seen in a long time. At least since, in the midst of the pandemic, the then Welfare Councilor Giulio Gallera he was “deposed” in favor of Letizia Moratti. On the eve of the opening of the electoral campaign for the European elections – Sunday at the Manzoni theater with the secretary Antonio Tajani and the Eurocandidate Moratti — the city secretary Cristina Rossello under the direction of the regional councilorand Gianluca Comazzi they have the Italian group leader was torpedoed at Palazzo Marino.

In the place of Alessandro De Chirico — 25 years in Berlusconi’s party abandoned immediately after being “notified only with a press release and a telegraphic call” — the role of group leader in the Municipality will be covered by Luca Bernardoformer centre-right candidate for mayor – he lost in the first round against Beppe Sala – and just a few days ago arrived in FI.

Many thanks and an unofficial motivation: the change of group leader comes based on the rotation principle established by the party at the beginning of the legislature which provides for a rotation after two and a half years. But the explanation is not convincing, also because Rossello would have had to convene the group and put the new group leader to the vote. And so the hypotheses are wasted.

On the one hand, the expulsion would have been due to De Chirico’s “very open” positions on LGBT rights and drugs: not only has the councilor – who is very close to Gallera – always participated in Pride events but he has also always said he is in favor of the liberalization of cannabis. And his too positions on the stadium they made his people turn up their noses. «But the straw that broke the camel’s back were the insults he addressed to his colleagues at Palazzo Marino in one of the last council commissions». On the other hand, however, there are many in the party who think that Rossello and Comazzi attempted to cripple Gallera.

The “dismissal” of De Chirico in fact caused a cascade effect. And the current regional councilor himself announced his «self-suspension» from the FI group to Pirellone, making it clear that, if Rossello and the party do not retrace their steps, he will resign. «I find it shocking, serious and unacceptable that a party that is relaunching itself, with an act of imperiousness and without any motivation, has kicked out a person who for three years, in total solitude, has kept the FI flag flying high at Palazzo Marino» , he writes in a note. And with him others of his current also self-suspend: the group leader in the Metropolitan Council Vera Cocuccithe councilors of the Milanese municipalities Salvatore Locanto, Fabrizio D’Angelo, Laura Schiaffino (which also self-suspends from city coordination) e Michele Pellegrino. They also suspend themselves from city coordination Michele Pellegrino and Luigi Santonastaso and many other local administrators and coordinators in the Milanese area will do so in the coming days. «We ask for an intervention from the regional coordinator Alessandro Sorte and the secretary Tajani» explains Gallera. «We are working with Tajani to recompose and prevent such valid personalities from leaving», assures Sorte.
