On 17 April 2024, at the Regional Administrative Court of Catania, the precautionary hearing was held for the Inwit spa case against the Municipality of Modica regarding the installation of a 5G antenna. The Municipality had suspended the works, a decision contested by Inwit.
However, during the hearing, the company desisted from requesting the suspension be lifted, so work is currently at a standstill. Assoutenti Sicilia APS supported the reasons of the citizen committee “Yes to 5G. No on the balcony of the house”, taking part in the trial.
Assoutenti Sicilia urged municipalities to follow the law by adopting regulations that identify appropriate areas for antennas, avoiding indiscriminate installations.
The group obtained a favorable result for the citizens and is pushing for a dialogue with the Municipality of Modica to speed up the approval of a new master plan.
