Four million euros from the Region against labor exploitation, here is the project – BlogSicilia

Offer assistance to citizens of third countries, regularly residing in Italy, victims or potentially susceptible to labor exploitation. This is the purpose of the notice issued by the regional department of Family and Social Policies which intends to identify third sector subjects for the creation and management of integrated social centres, one for each province and metropolitan city of Sicily, capable of offering the expected performance. The resources made available to the Region for the co-planning, organization and shared management of interventions and services amount to over four million euros.

The project

The interested bodies will have to develop a project for the management of the interventions. A gap is thus filled for citizens of third countries who, upon leaving the reception centres, can find structures capable of giving them information and orienting them.

The regional government wants to expand the action to prevent and combat undeclared and irregular work and forms of labor exploitation, especially in the agricultural sector, and protect the victims, through the sharing of actions, good practices, information and data relating to phenomena in different economic sectors.

The objectives

Among the objectives, strengthening regional governance for the definition of integrated intervention models to be implemented in different territorial areas; implement all actions to prevent and combat undeclared and irregular work and forms of labor exploitation and protect victims; enhance the role of companies and actors in the labor market and training for the implementation of measures to prevent and combat the phenomenon of gangmastering as well as protection and assistance to victims; improve the quality and accessibility of the service system in the area.
