Igor Tudor’s march continues, third victory in four matches for his Lazio which conquers the Ferraris of Genoa with Luis Alberto’s seal in the second half. For the Biancoceleste team, an important success for the European race. It ends 1-0 against Genoa, a defeat for Alberto Gilardino’s team after a performance with some shadows and few lights. There are long glances before lighting the spark, the Ligurians and Lazio players look for the right shortcut to hurt their opponent. Thus the first part of the match translates into a challenge with high competitive content because the pace is very high but with few goal-scoring actions to write down in the notebook. So it takes some time before Lazio and Genoa manage to raise the center of gravity with both focusing a lot on ball possession but struggling when there is scratch to be made in the last sixteen metres. Duels in midfield are repeated but only at the end of the half is there a flash that could write the history of the match. We are in full recovery when there is a lightning start from the Grifone with three rossoblùs against a Lazio player. Ekuban is very good at defending the ball and passing Casale, but instead of centrally supporting Retegui he looks for a personal solution without managing to materialise.

The curtain comes down and when we start again for the second half there is a Lazio with more sprint that offers the feeling of having the right play ready to make the turning point. More Lazio therefore with Genoa instead always navigating away from the opponent’s area with the pair formed by Retegui and Gudmundsson never managing to add spice in the very last lunge which could put Lazio goalkeeper Mandas in trouble. Thus it is above all Tudor’s men who manage to create unmistakable signals in the opposing area, particularly in the 16th minute when De Winter slides towards Martinez. Luis Alberto takes the ball and advances, finding a highway but his practically sure shot is stopped by Martin’s miraculous slide which saves the opposing goalkeeper. Genoa struggled, so Lazio took advantage and struck in the 22nd minute with a beautiful and winning move. Felipe Anderson starts the maneuver by inspiring Kamada who suggests Luis Alberto in the area. All too easy for the Lazio player who simply has to place it at the bottom of the bag thanks also to Vecino’s pass. Advantage for Tudor’s team who can thus enjoy the overtaking in the final rush of the match. You expect the Grifone’s reaction but instead you find Mandas and his companions who know how to raise a wall without too many problems because the Grifone certainly changes his approach but up front, apart from a few crosses from the side lanes, there is little positive news for the Ligurians. Which persist but don’t sink. Lazio is smiling, Europe is approaching. For Genoa, a knockout that doesn’t change a beautiful season one iota, salvation is already in their pocket. The mathematics will also be made official very soon.
