These are hours of anguish for his two families: his emotional one and that of the state police, whose uniform he has always worn with pride and a sense of duty. The colleagues with whom he shared his last shift are still shocked and in disbelief. Until a few minutes ago they were monitoring the city streets, then the sudden blackout and the race against time to try to save him. Relatives and colleagues are huddling at his bedside, clinging to faint hopes that the 49-year-old can make it.
