Next Tuesday Gianluca Festa, the former mayor of Avellino who has been under house arrest since yesterday morning together with two other people, the former municipal manager Filomena Smiraglia and the architect Fabio Guerrierowill find himself face to face, in the guarantee interrogation, with the investigating judge of the Court of Avellino, Giulio Argeniothe same magistrate who signed the precautionary order at the request of Avellino’s chief prosecutor, Domenico Airoma.

Festa is at the center of an investigation, divided into various lines, which calls him into question, together with others, for alleged episodes of corruption, rigged competitions, irregularities on assignments and contracts of the municipality of Avellino, but also for misdirection, tampering with evidence and revealing official secrecy. «We don’t have a counter-thesis – explains the criminal lawyer Luigi Petrillowhich he defends Party – because we don’t have a thesis from the Prosecutor’s Office, but we will finally be given the opportunity to defend ourselves, as we asked in vain already in the aftermath of the house search suffered by the former mayor” on March 6th.

The criminal lawyer then returns to the computer which, in the images attached to the order Party would have made it disappear, to reiterate that «the device was little used by the mayor and protected by a password available to many: to think that they wanted to make that computer disappear as if it held who knows what secrets – concludes Petrillo – seems to me to be an unproven conjecture and unprovable. From viewing the videos and the scenes filmed inside the former mayor’s room, we will actually understand how the events happened.”

On the disclosure of the images taken by the cameras installed by the Prosecutor’s Office in Festa’s office, Petrillo denounces: «They were released to represent proof of the suspect’s responsibility as already certain. I consider it a very serious fact: I believe that there are not many precedents in Italian judicial history in recent times.”
