Rome turns 2777 years old. This year, April 21st falls on a Sunday and will be an opportunity to celebrate the Eternal City for an entire weekend. From historical re-enactments to various cultural, gastronomic and musical events that make this Christmas in Rome 2024 truly special.

Roman Historical Group for the 2777th birthday of Rome

On the occasion of the 2777th birthday of the City, the Circus Maximus area hosts the traditional activities of the Roman Historical Group with representations of ancient rites and festivals, gladiatorial shows and historical re-enactments. Three days of culture, history, love and tradition characterized by the setting up of the usual imperial and republican Castrum in which there will be meetings with authors, music, exhibitions and educational workshops for children. Christmas in Rome in the Civic Museums

On the occasion of Rome’s Christmas, from 19 to 22 April, four days of events, guided tours and workshops are scheduled in the civic museums and archaeological sites of Rome Capital, organized by the Capitoline Superintendence, to celebrate the city and its rich heritage together cultural heritage. The Municipal Rose Garden reopens

On April 21st, on the occasion of Christmas in Rome, the municipal Rose Garden reopens to the public with free admission. The phenomenon of light at the Pantheon

A fascinating, almost magical phenomenon that occurs only once a year. Every April 21st, the sun’s rays penetrate the oculus of the Pantheon at precisely 12pm, perfectly illuminating the bronze entrance door, the one through which visitors enter today but from which, many years ago, the emperor accessed. On 20-21 April, Ficus al Massimo returns to the stage at the Garum Kitchen Museum in front of the Circus Maximus, the first market with creations created by artisans and designers inside an evocative museum. Village for the Earth
