Overnight, a fire sparked chaos at the former nightclub site.Camino Real” to Pontecagnano Faiano, province of Salerno. This structure, once the flagship of local entertainment, has now been abandoned and targeted as an open-air waste dump. Unfortunately, similar incidents are nothing new in this area. This time, the flames consumed the area around midnight, requiring the timely intervention of the Fire Brigade. With the use of specialized vehicles and foam, they fought for hours to put out the fire, given the large extent of the waste involved.
The causes of the fire still remain unknown, while investigations are underway to shed light on the matter. It is sad to note that this is not the first time that the “Camino Real” nightclub has been at the center of similar tragedies. In 2019, a large fire had already reduced the building to ashes. In 2021, the authorities had taken matters into their own hands, seizing the site which had become an open-air landfill. A redevelopment project had been announced, with the aim of transforming the area into an anti-violence centre, financed thanks to funds from the Campania Region intended for the recovery of confiscated assets.
