“The NO LNG Brindisi NETWORK: Appeal for Institutional Commitment against the Costa Morena Deposit”

The NO LNG EDISON NETWORK, made up of associations and citizens of Brindisi, committed to opposing the construction of the depot in Costa Morena, met the President of the Province of Brindisi Antonio Matarrelli on 16 April to ask that the organization appear in court in support of the ASI notes of 10 and 17 January 2024 in the appeal to the TAR of Lazio undertaken by the Port System Authority, to request their annulment.

The President, supported by the organisation’s lawyer, declared that the legal conditions for the establishment of the province in the aforementioned judgment do not exist.

We thank the President for meeting with us, but at the same time we are not convinced of this impossibility.

The same request, also made to the Mayor of Brindisi on 4 April 2024, has not yet received a response.

We believe that it is necessary to relaunch the institutional initiative to block the establishment of this warehouse: we remember that this plant, being at risk of a major accident, would constitute an obstacle to the development of the port and a threat to the safety and health of the citizens of Brindisi. We therefore urge Mayor Marchionna to meet us as soon as possible.
