Railway, works already completed The inconveniences will end tomorrow – Pescara
Descriptive text here

PESCARA. Adriatic railway, the works are finished. From tomorrow afternoon traffic will return to normal without delays and cancellations of trips or the need to get off the train to continue the journey on board a bus. The inconveniences are one step away from the end of the line.
Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, the leading company of the Fs Group, has in fact completed the infrastructural and technological upgrading works between San Vito Chietino and San Severo, on the Pescara-Foggia line, which began on 8 April last and were completed in just eleven days, of of which nine are actual jobs if the weekend break is excluded.
The images we are publishing as a preview show the complexity of the works.
THE SUPER DREDGING
In the San Giovanni Tunnel, over 9 kilometers long, in San Vito Chietino, a new system has been created water drain system for the drainage of rainwater which allows to increase the reliability of the line.
Technically it is an «strengthening of the water regulation system through solutions capable of counteracting the accumulation of limestone on the slabs located at the level of the iron surface and encouraging the correct escape of rising, spring and rain water from the tunnel».
Further south, on the section between Ripalta and Lesina, in Puglia, hydraulic works were carried out in preparation for the doubling of the railway line. At the same time, switches replacement and preparatory works for the construction of the future computerized central apparatus (Acc) were carried out in the Foggia station.
In the Campomarino station, in Molise, functional works were carried out to extend the crossing track to 750 meters in order to facilitate the development of freight traffic on the Adriatic route.
TRACKS WITHOUT SLEEPERS
In the same period, in Abruzzo, between Fossacesia and Vasto San Salvo, technological modernization interventions were carried out in the Diavolo and San Donato tunnels. In the latter case we are talking about slab trackan innovative construction methodology that allows you to install tracks without ballast, therefore without sleepers and ballast, designed with a completely prefabricated structure in reinforced concrete.
This system allows us to reduce the frequency of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance interventions, thus giving greater regularity to railway circulation.
The works also involved the galleries called Vasto and Sinello. Just as preparatory interventions for the creation of the Accm (Multistation Central Computerized Equipment) and other enhancement and maintenance interventions were carried out in Falconara and Ancona, Varano and Loreto, as well as in the stations of Cattolica, Giulianova, Ortona and Foggia.
OVER 250 IN ACTION
The activities, carried out by RFI technicians and contracting companies, saw over 250 people at work. The overall economic investment was 260 million euros, of which 100 million were financed with Pnrr funds. During all these works, high-speed trains, Intercity and regional trains have undergone changes to circulation, route diversions, limitations and cancellations which, as stated, will no longer be necessary from tomorrow.
HIGH SPEED TRAINS
The trains on the Turin/Milan/Venice – Bari/Lecce/Taranto route were subject to route limitations in the Ancona and Pescara stations. In particular: trains FR 8810, FR 9806, FR 8814, FR 8820, FR 8824, FR 9808 will still originate from Pescara today. And trains FR 8816, FR 8818, FR 8828 and FR 8830 from Ancona.
INTERCITY TRAINS
Some Intercity trains on the Milan/Bologna-Bari/Lecce connection have suffered partial cancellations between Pescara and San Severo. However, alternative bus connections have been provided. The Intercity Night trains of the Milan/Turin Porta Nuova – Lecce connection, on the nights from 7 to 11 and from 14 to 18 April, underwent route changes with cancellations of intermediate stops on the route between Bologna Centrale and Foggia, with timetable changes .
REGIONAL TRAINS
Finally, from 8 to 12 and from 15 April until this night, some regional trains of the Pescara – Termoli, San Benedetto del Tronto – Vasto San Salvo, Teramo – Vasto San Salvo and Teramo – Termoli connections have suffered route limitations with partial cancellations on the Francavilla – Termoli or San Vito Chietino – Termoli route. But even in the latter case, alternative bus connections have been provided between San Vito and Termoli and vice versa; furthermore, from 8 to 12 and from 15 to 19 April, between Bari and Foggia, train R4306 was affected by changes in the departure time. The same timetable change affected train 19984, between Brindisi and Taranto; just as regional trains between Termoli and Foggia have suffered cancellations with connections made by bus.
