Work on the construction of the cycle/pedestrian path along Via Valle Po, in the Madonna dell’Olmo hamlet, will begin in May. The new section of track will connect the existing railway overpass along via Valle Po and the Hermitage district (via degli Agostiniani, roundabout area).

As had been anticipated to the Fraction Committee in an open meeting which took place in February, it was necessary to acquire some areas of private property before being able to proceed with the works. The latest writings are being concluded, thanks to the collaboration of the residents. The contract with the contracting company of the works, “Ramero Aldo & C. srl”, has already been finalized.

The track will have a section 4 meters wide and will be raised from the road surface by 15 cm. The length of the affected section is approximately 400 metres. The works, for a project amount of €400,000, will have an expected duration of approximately 6 months.

Regarding the long-awaited cycle path for the Madonna dell’Olmo hamlet, that is, the one that connects the Ponte Nuovo with the hamlet, along via Torino, the works are awaiting the approval of ANAS SpA. The project had been authorized by the Province; since ANAS has taken over as the managing body of the road affected by the works, it is necessary to also receive authorization from ANAS. The technical offices are in contact with the interlocutors of the company that manages the road infrastructure, to obtain authorization. Based on the latest developments, this approval should be received in the first half of May and consequently the works could start by the end of the same month.

A 2.5 m wide cycle path will be created on site with a 1.5 meter wide sidewalk for pedestrians alongside. Public lighting, surveillance cameras and the implementation of fiber optic infrastructure and new plants will complete the work.

Thus Mobility Councilor Luca Pellegrino: “Work will begin shortly on these two connections, which are certainly important for the hamlet of Madonna dell’Olmo, but also for the entire Oltre Stura area. Once the formalities with the managing body have been resolved, the works will begin and continue quickly and continuously”.
