Work has begun on the new cycle path in Via Sorio. This is a project financed for over 600 thousand euros, part of line 5 of the Bicipolitana “Colli”, which will involve the entire Via Sorio, from the roundabout near Porta San Giovanni to the foot of the Brusegana overpass. The complete construction of the track will require approximately a year of work, without changes to the road system.
The intervention which develops on the right side of the road from Piazzale San Giovanni to the airport, involves the widening of the pavement, which will therefore accommodate a cycle path on an elevated site, at the level of the pavement itself. This, in addition to ensuring greater safety, will also allow easier passage for pedestrians and bicycles and, thanks to the narrowing of the road, more controlled speeds of vehicles. The returned bus stop locations will be maintained, without therefore creating an obstacle to traffic. “The administration’s commitment continues to make Padua one of the Italian capitals of cycling” declares the deputy mayor and councilor for public works “With this project in Via Sorio we add a fundamental piece to create the Padua Bicipolitana, and we rejoin the works for the cycle paths that we have already followed at Porta San Giovanni, Via Orsini and which continue in Via Volturno. Every day Padua becomes more and more accessible by bicycle, thanks to safe and accessible paths”.
