Uto Ughi is postponed to October, Massimo Quarta is in Sassari

Sassari’s symphonic season starts immediately in the Fourth. The famous violinist Massimo Quarta opens the program prepared by the Marialisa de Carolis organization on Wednesday at the Teatro Comunale (starting at 8.30 pm).

In reality the opening was up to Uto Ughi who, however, for health reasons postponed the concert to October 13th: «I am deeply sorry to have to postpone this concert, which I was very keen on, but I am sure that the public will understand and will be happy to attend a new project next October, which I am working on in this period which involves the newly created Ughi Foundation and which I have decided to bring to Sassari”.

His “substitute” is certainly not a second rate violinist: the Salento native Massimo Quarta he won the Paganini Prize in 1991 (the third Italian to win it) and for over 30 years he has been the protagonist in Italy and abroad of concerts in which he is both a soloist and a director.

Massimo Quarta was recently appointed by de Carolis as principal guest conductor for the symphony and also by virtue of this role he made himself available to support the organization in this sudden remodulation of the programme. On April 24 Quarta will be engaged in the role of violin soloist and director of the de Carolis Orchestra in a program that will feature music by Mozart (Violin Concerto k 219 And Symphony No. 40 in G m K 550) and by Niccolò Paganini ( The Palpiti op. 13).
