Portomaggiore. The Ancescao Le Contrade center hosts Obes Grandini on Friday 19 April at 6 pm. The cycle traveler spent six months cycling across Australia between May and October 2018, part of a longer journey that also took him to New Zealand and Borneo until June 2019.
During the meeting, in conversation with Fausto Villani, he will talk about his incredible and adventurous journey. The lush and overbearing nature, the life of the aborigines, the daily life of the many characters encountered along the way who are described with essentiality and sensitivity. The words with which he describes the sunsets and starry nights spent camping in the boundless solitude of the Australian bush are touching.
The fatigue encountered in the long and difficult journeys, chosen in search of the real Australia, far from the usual tourist clichés, is the main protagonist of this story and well describes the spirit with which the author faces his adventures. The self-deprecating ideas and genuine considerations act as a counterbalance and make reading compelling and enjoyable.
Grandini’s book does not present a tourist guide, nor a list of stages with the related athletic performances but rather a journey where nothing is taken for granted, not even the itinerary.
