“A success beyond expectations”

A great Vinitaly for the Marche. “It’s going beyond our wildest expectations, especially on Monday, a fantastic day, we had a huge turnout.” Word of Alberto Mazzoni, director of the Marche Wine Protection Institute which represents over 500 producers in an extraordinary territory which includes 15 DOC and 5 DOCG. The indications received are important: “This Vinitaly confirms one thing – says Mazzoni – that wine is not in crisis. The statistical data sometimes give uglier indications than reality. It is true that after 2022 there was a decline , but on closer inspection it was probably unavoidable.” The presence of foreign importers and professionals is very important and demonstrates the growing international centrality of the Verona fair: “Vinitaly is enjoying great success as an international fair – he states –. We have already told our members that next year we will do Wine Paris and Vinitaly and not Prowein (in Dusseldorf, Germany, ed.). Vinitaly will gain more and more strength and enthusiasm. We have seen many buyers from all over the world and great interest in the Marche wines, in particular the whites and those that manage to characterize the territory is critical”.

Precisely on this front, that of the territory, there are important news: “We are launching the 2025 challenge linked to two new specifications of the Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva Docg and Matelica Verdicchio Riserva Docg of which we will change the name, we will remove the vine leaving the territory and they will become Castelli di Jesi Docg and Matelica Docg is a very important change because it goes in line with the European legislation which rewards geographical indications, plus we also add the extended geographical area of Marche which will be on the label, will place us, in immediately explain where we are.” Territory and wine are linked: “In this choice there is an important sense of characterizing origin, wine, producer, but above all a unique pedoclimatic system of its kind. In the Marche we go skiing and to the sea within 150 kilometers and this territory gives us temperature variations that allow us to have intense, fragrant and long-lived wines”.
