Various events are planned in Messina on April 25th for Liberation Day. A day that celebrates the 79 years of the Italian Constitution and the 80th anniversary of the Resistance.
It starts from the morning on European Union Square (Piazza Municipio) where the participants of the “Pedalata per la Resistenza” will end up (organized by Uisp and Messina Ciclabile). The event is also planned in Piazza dell’Unione Europea official ceremony around 10:00 while the hours will begin at 11:00 collective readings of poems, pieces of literature on the Resistance and Freedom and biographies of the partisans. The music will follow Santa Cecilia Band of Villafranca Tirrena directed by maestro Emanuele Celona.
At 5pm the demonstrations move to Horcynus Orca Park where the Liberation Day Concert will be held. Introductory speeches by Piero Patti (CGIL), Gaetano Giunta (Messina Foundation), Anna Ricevuto (Udu) and Annamaria Garufi (Anpi). The artists Paola Fazio, Germana Di Gregorio, David Cuppari will perform. Erika La Fauci, Olivia Cinquemani, Ensemble A. Morabito & G. Fichera, Sicily and surroundings.
