Cosenza – Presentation of Gennaro Branca’s personal exhibition entitled “Views of Nature”

The Ellebi Art Gallery presents Gennaro’s personal exhibition on Saturday 20 April at 6pm Branca, entitled “Views of Nature”

“Inspired by Alexander Von Humboldt’s book, this exhibition explores the artist’s work, which revisits the concept of nature that is reinterpreted in a subjective key and conceived as a harmonizing force.

Through his works, in fact, Branca draws inspiration from the multiple dimensions of the natural, which is – how writes the German botanist – «universality of everything that is and will be», «internal force of all phenomena», and, at the at the same time, earthly element and intimate ally of man.

Pasquale Ruocco writes: “His imagery moves between microscopic observation and restitution chromatically lit of flowers, plants, cellular organisms, in an apparently chaotic configuration, messy, but which serves to enhance the uncontrollable vitality of nature. A painting that moves between figuration and abstraction, with which the artist refers to the existing link between the mysterious, intricate, vitality of the organic and the analytical rationality of scientific annotation, to man’s need, that is, to investigate the mystery of the origin of life, underlining how everything is inextricably interconnected”.

Combining his personal vision of the natural world with the exploration of the relationships between color and writing, figures and visual poetry, Branca transforms the concept of nature into a multifaceted and kaleidoscopic expression.

This semantic richness therefore encounters, in the artist’s research, a pictorial surface understood as stratified and three-dimensional space, from which bold colours, abstract shapes and dense brushstrokes emerge, contaminated by signs and writings.

Color appears as a privileged means to express the most intimate sensations: remembering his debut as a writer, Branca does not abandon the can, but uses it in a mature and conscious way, in a modus operandi evolved towards a mixed technique, where acrylic and oil blend with spray painting, giving life to an original artistic expression.

In addition to the pictorial works, the exhibition will present the public with unique installations: suspended sculptures entitled “Fragments”, made of polyurethane and resin, which evoke the evanescence of petals, corollas and stems of flowers, light organic elements with which – writes Pasquale Ruocco – “the artist compares himself with the sculpture seeking an even closer relationship with the environment”. On the occasion of the exhibition, the gallery Ellebi has created 20 exclusive art boxes.

Each box contains a small but precious work of art, thus offering visitors an extraordinary and refined experience.
