Lecce: Banda undergoes surgery on his right knee

The Zambian striker had to stop after the match against Milan. The diagnosis speaks of “right knee pain from high kneecap”

Big trouble for Lecce. What you never imagined could happen has happened. The Zambian winger born in 2001 Lameck Banda has already concluded his season. And it is a significant damage for Luca Gotti’s team who must face the final sprint for salvation. Banda, for a few weeks he had been complaining about knee discomfort that prevented him from running and sprinting like he does. He tried in every way to try, but now he had to stop. Because in the next few hours he will undergo knee surgery.

The diagnosis speaks of “right gonalgia due to patella alta”. This season Banda was unable to make the contribution that was needed, between September and October he was blocked by a thigh bruise. In the second part he was seen even less. In December he said goodbye to the team to go to the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia. Then on February 16th he suffered a knee contusion in the match against Torino. The one that created the first alarm bell, but Banda continued to play, even once in the match against Milan on 6 April. Then the discomfort forced him to stop for good.

THE FUTURE

In total for him 21 appearances, two goals and four assists. Against 36 last season, the first in Italy, and always two goals. With Marco Baroni he made himself particularly appreciated, especially in the first part of the championship when he arrived as an unknown, discovered by Pantaleo Corvino who made a great coup by defeating the competition. Because Banda had already played in Russia and Israel. Now he will prepare for the next championship. Who knows if he is still in Lecce…
