Conference “Security and Development for an extraordinary Calabria”: a great success in terms of attendance and content

The conference organized by the regional secretariat of SIULP Calabria and entitled “Security and development for an extraordinary Calabria” ended with an extraordinary success in terms of content and attendance. Held at the Hotel 501 in Vibo Valentia, with the collaboration of the SIULP National Secretariat, over 120 State Police operators were present, members of the SIULP National Board of Directors, coming from all the Italian provinces. The theme of the meeting aimed to offer numerous food for thought on the future prospects of the country, also in light of the new international geopolitical scenarios, which require a different reading and organization, within the context of a global security policy that goes meeting new challenges.

At the same time, the conference was an important opportunity for discussion on issues relating to the culture of legality and the path of transformation of the concept of security: from the atavistic one of defense with the weapons of public order, up to the current one, of social security, as an indispensable precondition also for the political and economic development of our territories.

The works, masterfully moderated by the service chief of the Gazzetta del Sud of Cosenza, Arcangelo Badolati, saw the participation of the Regional General Secretary of Siulp Calabria, Giuseppe Lupia, which was followed, among others, by the interventions of the President of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto, of the acting prosecutor of the DDA of Catanzaro, Vincenzo Capomolla, by the Regional General Secretary of CISL Calabria, Tonino Russo and by the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Wanda Ferro.

Present remotely with video message were the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and the President of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission, Chiara Colosimo.

The General Secretary of SIULP, Felice Romano, concluded the work.

The speakers, with their presence, were witnesses of the institutional sensitivity towards the Police Forces operating in the Calabrian territory, the only bastion in defense of legality and security, in order to allow greater development of Calabria, with the awareness that for In order to achieve the objective, it is necessary to all work together in the same direction and with the same determination, to carry forward those projects of valorisation and protection of the territory, which make us even more rediscover and promote the art and culture of an extraordinary land , like Calabria.
